In the Forest, 2013, oil on canvas, 22 x 28 inches/ 56 x 71 cm
This painting was inspired by a photograph my husband took on his travels to Prague. Taken late at night in low light; the building appeared moving. As with many buidlings in Europe; they carry with them the history of the past. I brought the building out of the city and into a mysterious forest, with a sense that the nature here is staying and the building (with its crosses as spears) is on its way out. Or perhaps it is a young girl's dream of the castle, moving away as she is finding her own two feet to stand on. This is one of those paintings that will have a different story, a different angle the more times you spend time with it.
